Finding Your Feet in the Magistrates' Court

This interactive course involves preparation for, and conduct of, the preliminary issues, applications and submissions, that arise in the course of Magistrates’ Court proceedings.

It is an introduction to conducting non-trial advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court.

It will prepare you to conduct your early appearances with confidence and professionalism.

This course is suitable for both new and aspiring entrants to the profession looking to conduct Magistrates’ Court work.  It stands alone but also leads into the MCT Part 2 course on how to conduct a Magistrates’ Court trial.

It is also suitable for trainee solicitors who have completed the advocacy module of the PSC with intentions of practising in the field of criminal law, including advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court.
