At the beginning of 2021, we launched a competition to give away a free Professional Skills Course (PSC) place to one lucky winner. Well, this week, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve officially awarded this to Fiona Newcombe, a trainee solicitor at Tyler Hoffman Solicitors.
Currently based within the Criminal Defence Department, Fiona will start her PSC this month. However, Fiona already has an end goal in mind. Once her PSC training is complete, Fiona is aspiring to become a solicitor advocate through the Higher Rights of Audience qualification. This will allow her to practice in the Higher Courts on behalf of her clients.
Speaking of the win, Fiona said: “I have wanted to join the legal profession in any capacity I could since I had my first interaction with the law at the age of 9. My speaking with Police Officers, Barristers, Court Clerks and even the Judge gave me the aspiration to find my way into the legal profession for myself.
“I want to say thank you to BARBRI Altior for this wonderful opportunity, and I look forward to fulfilling my aspiration.”
BARBRI Altior has worked with Tyler Hoffman solicitors since 2018 with numerous trainees taking the PSC. However, this is the firm’s first trainee to win a place on the course.
Jody Tranter, head of BARBRI Altior said: “We’re thrilled to award this PSC place to a highly ambitious trainee like Fiona, who’s already set her sights on becoming a solicitor advocate.
“We’ve worked with Tyler Hoffman Solicitors for several years and have first-hand experience of working with their high-calibre trainees, so we do not doubt that Fiona will thrive throughout the course. We wish her the very best of luck as she navigates her training journey, and our expert team will support her throughout. Congratulations, Fiona.”
