Cha cha cha changes – What’s new at Altior?

We’re always looking to innovate and enhance our services, which means that we regularly update our course offering and delivery to meet our clients’ needs. Over the past few months, we’ve marked the introduction of new courses delivered both through our virtual classroom, Live Online, and in face-to-face environments and we’re celebrating a momentous birthday within the firm, and that’s just to name a few things. So, with all of this activity happening, for our blog this week we wanted to take the time to share our company updates and keep you in the loop because after all, we wouldn’t be here without you.

Added Compliance Courses
In 2018, we launched our inaugural Compliance course, focusing on diversity and equality following the inclusion of this issue in the SRA Risk Outlook for 2018/2019. This topic is particularly pertinent as 2019 marks 100 years of women in law and with just 29% of partners in law firms being female, we know that women still fall behind in most senior roles; a trend which needs to change. While we continue to champion all aspects of diversity within organisations, not just gender, we’ve also expanded our Compliance course offering for 2019 to include Investment Schemes and Money Laundering. Both have been noted as key risk areas for law firms and clients alike and at Altior, we believe that it’s crucial for solicitors to identify and combat any risk from occurring.  However, we’re not stopping there and have more Compliance courses in the pipeline around Standards of Service in Advocacy and Manging PI claims, so keep your eyes peeled for these.

Expanding our Live Online offering
Due to tremendous feedback from the 250+ firms that we’ve worked with so far, throughout 2019, we’ll be further expanding our virtual classroom offering. Not only does this mean that many of our CPD courses such as Management and Leadership and Compliance will be available online, but this will also extend to PSC core and elective modules, helping to make learning more accessible for all of our delegates at all stages of their careers. As a third of higher education students enrol in at least one online course, we know that the trend for online learning will only grow further, and we believe it should be regarded as an essential part of any L&D strategy.

Refreshed face-to-face learning
We have also been busy working on our existing courses, ensuring that they remain relevant for solicitors operating within the industry. We’re starting with a new and revised version of our Client Care & Professional Standards PSC core module which will be rolled out in Summer 2019 – stay up to date with any further changes by signing up to our newsletter (on the right-hand side of this page).

Our 40th birthday
We haven’t been particularly quiet about this one but in 2019, Altior is celebrating its 40th birthday. After 40 years of operations, we’ve worked alongside thousands of delegates and firms to help future-proof careers and continue professional and personal development. We are particularly proud of all that we’ve achieved so far, and this is why we’re putting together a Altior yearbook featuring some of our trainers, delegates and firms that we’ve worked alongside. We’ll be releasing this later in the year and we’re very excited to share this with our community. In the meantime, we’ve been giving away a sponsored PSC place with the winner set to be announced shortly; agreed our charity of the year, Autism Puzzles Cymru; and have released our 40th birthday video with insights from some of the team. It’s been a jam-packed few months of celebrations and we’re certainly not ready to stop yet.

And in case you missed it…
In 2018, we expanded our course offering to focus on the issue of fraud and introduced our Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) course to help organisations across all industry sectors learn how to identify and prevent fraud from occurring. So far, our delegates have included representatives from Mars Inc and Inchcape Shipping Services, to name a few, with incredibly successful results, and many positive things to say (just read our case studies to find out more).

Last year, we also launched our highly-anticipated inaugural ACCA Probate and Estate Administration course, widening our offering for the professional services sector. This course allows accountants to apply to practice probate for the first time in England and Wales, a huge step forward for those operating within the industry.

Let’s also not forget about the extensive in-house courses that we’ve delivered for clients ranging from a whole variety of management skills courses, through advocacy based courses to technical contract drafting courses and more. These courses have helped many legal and non-legal businesses to continue the professional development of their teams in a tailored and bespoke way.

2019 is set to be a busy year for the team, and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon – we already have more plans in the pipeline. As a leading training provider in our field, we know that training and development is an essential consideration for most professional services organisations, with almost 65% of workers identifying work opportunities and training as a benefit that would increase their loyalty and engagement within a company. For that reason alone, it’s crucial that firms consider the importance of training and an effective L&D plan, working alongside training providers that you can trust.
