Professional Skills Course - Booking Form Guidance
There are a number of options for you to choose from when selecting the right package for your Professional Skills Course (PSC). Please choose your package option from the list below by selecting the check box to the right.
Once you have selected your package you will be given the option to enter the dates and venues for your core modules and any additional courses selected. BARBRI Altior provides delegates with the flexibility to vary their venue selection.
If you are a trainee solicitor, we suggest that you complete your PSC at least 8 weeks prior to the end of your training contract to try to avoid a delay in your Roll application. Delegates can study their modules in the order best suited to their training needs as the SRA no longer confines the PSC to a set schedule, so you can take the courses in whatever order you choose. The SRA does however recommend that the Client Care and Professional Standards course is taken at least 6 months into your training for best results.
If you know the dates and venues for your core modules, please select these from the drop down list. You can choose to confirm all, or just some of your dates at this point in time, but we do need at least one date confirmed to process the booking. If you wish to leave some options open for the moment, please select TBC (to be confirmed) in the drop down and contact the Delegate Services Team directly when ready to confirm those choices at a later date.
Electives
In addition to your core modules, trainee solicitors must also complete 24 hours of electives, 12 of which must be face to face tuition.
Our training package offers attendance at 2 electives with face to face training of 12 hours combined with 12 hours of distance-learning. In our experience this package option offers you a deeper and more meaningful understanding of your chosen elective subjects than choosing to undertake 4 electives where you would gain a wider spread of top-level knowledge.
Higher Rights
Trainees have the option to undertake the 24 hours of Higher Rights of Audience training in place of electives and take the assessment. As of April 1st 2021, trainee solicitors will only be able to complete the assessments until after admission to the role as a solicitor.
If you are unsure which elective route suits your requirements, please contact our training advisors on +44 (0)29 20 451000 to discuss your options.
